Sunsetting the Emergency Grant
Dear Community,
At The Cupcake Girls, our focus has always been the people we serve. From our early days of sharing cupcakes in clubs to building a national network of trauma-informed care, our mission remains rooted in one simple truth: you deserve support without an agenda.
We are writing to share a significant update regarding our programs. To ensure we are honoring our commitment to long-term sustainability and meaningful impact, we have made the difficult decision to sunset the Monthly Emergency Grant program.
Why This Change is Happening
The landscape for nonprofits has shifted dramatically over the last year. The current administration’s policies and widespread federal funding freezes have created a "double crunch" for organizations like ours. While we have always fought to keep our resources low-barrier, the broader economic climate, including rising costs and shifts in philanthropic giving, has required us to think critically about how we steward our funds.
This decision was not made lightly. We know that for many, these grants provided a vital bridge. However, to stay true to our value of Inviting Innovation, we must adapt so that we can continue to be a stable, reliable presence for our community for years to come.
Focusing on Your Needs
This transition is not about doing less; it is about doing better. By sunsetting the Monthly Emergency Grant, we are creating the space to:
Listen Deeper: We are shifting our focus to the areas where you have told us you need the most support, specifically in housing navigation, financial guidance, and mental health.
Strengthen Direct Care: We are reinvesting our energy into our Advocacy and Referral programs to ensure that every person we are able to assist is met with a holistic plan, not just a temporary fix.
Introducing Microgrants: A New Chapter
We also know that financial gaps still exist. That is why we are excited to share that we are currently developing a Microgrant Program. This new initiative is designed to be more agile and targeted, allowing us to provide support that aligns more closely with specific, goal-oriented milestones in your journey.
Stay tuned for more news in the coming months as we finalize the details and application process for this new style of support.
We Are Still Here
Our doors, our hearts, and our other programs remain dedicated to meeting you where you are at. Our Referral, Mentorship, and Advocacy services continue to provide the nonjudgmental support you’ve come to expect from us.
We are so grateful for your trust as we navigate these changes. We are committed to walking alongside you, challenging harmful systems, and building a world where everyone has the resources they need to thrive.
With love and gratitude,
The Cupcake Girls Team
